Helen Money
Helen Money (Section Head Liaison) is a former teacher and coordinator of the Challenge program for academically gifted children at Esquimalt High School. A teacher representative on the Esquimalt High School Alumni Board, she is responsible for scholarship funds. Her interests in retirement are all things French, tennis (she is still a volunteer coach for the Esquimalt tennis team), reading and travel. Helen has played piano, sung in choirs, and is a long-time supporter of the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra. Her daughter Kirsty is a professional violinist with Symphony Nova Scotia and the baroque group Tempest. Her son Alasdair is a freelance cellist playing with the Emily Carr String Quartet, Galiano Ensemble, Aventa Ensemble, and the Victoria Symphony. Having held the portfolios of Patrons, Sponsors, and Hospitality [by default!] Helen has been the Section Head Liaison for the past five years. This portfolio means working with all the section heads who run the various disciplines, answering their questions, trouble shooting, communicating their concerns to the Board and communicating the Board’s suggestions to the section heads. Though this portfolio is operational all year, the busiest time for the portfolio is in April when the sections are up and running. Helen very much enjoys her time in April with the various sessions.
