Studio Dance
Performance Dates
Adjudicated sessions of Studio Dance will be held April 16 through April 20, 2012, at the Farquhar Auditorium, University Centre, University of Victoria.
The Studio Dance Highlights and Awards Concert will be held on Saturday, May 5, at 7:30 pm at the Farquhar Auditorium, University Centre, University of Victoria.
Tickets for the Concert are available in advance at the University Centre Box Office and at the door. Anyone wanting to use a comps ticket for the Studio Dance Highlights Concert will need to exchange it at the Farquhar box office first.
Syllabus
The Syllabus contains rules and procedures, registration fees and deadlines, a list of available classes and information pertaining to performance in each of the Festival's Sections.
The entire 2012 Syllabus is available in pdf format above at the "Register" tab under "Syllabus". Regulations that apply to the entire Festival appear at the front, followed by specific information for performers in each Section.
Studio Dance time limits are as follows: all solos/duets - 3 minutes maximum, Small and Large Groups - 6 minutes maximum, Open-Own Choice - 10 minutes maximum, Production - 15 minutes maximum.
A dancer is allowed to enter only once in any class - solos or groups. If dancers are in more than one dance in a class, the second dance must be entered in either Class 841 - "Own Choice Open - Any Age" or moved up one age group.

The printed 100-page Syllabus for the 2012 Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival is published in early November. To see the list of locations where the Syllabus is on sale ($5), go to "Where to buy the Syllabus" under "Register".
Studio Dance Classes
All performance information for registrants about each class (including age limits, performance time limits, fees, and more) can be found above in the list of Sections at "Classes" in the "Register" tab.
There is a new Master Class section this year for dancers in Class numbers 400 through 470. The Ballet and Modern Master Classes will be on Sunday, April 15, at a time and place to be announced here, and the Stage Jazz and Tap Master Classes will be held on Saturday, April 21, also at a time and place to be announced here.
Registration
Registration dates for Studio Dance are from November 14, 2011 through 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 14, 2012.
The Studio Dance registration form for use by dancers can be downloaded at the "Register" tab above, and delivered with payment in person to the Festival office at 210 - 932 Balmoral Road or mailed to the P.O. Box number address given here. Mailed registrations must be postmarked no later than January 14, 2012.
Payment can be made only with cash or cheque.
Registration can also be done in person on Saturday, January 14, 2012, in Room 200 of the First Metropolitan United Church, upstairs at 932 Balmoral Road, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Section Heads will be present.
