PROVINCIAL FESTIVAL - 2023

Of the participants who perform at Festival, some are chosen by Adjudicators to represent Victoria as delegates at the Provincial Festival. The Provincial (Performing Arts BC) Festival is independently run and is a separate association from the GVPAF.

CANADA WEST FESTIVAL - 2023

Performing Arts BC, the Alberta Music Festival Association and the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association are pleased to announce the formation of a new Tri-Province Festival for Music and Speech Arts, which will serve as a 'next step' for provincial competitors. The inaugural festival took place in 2022 in Saskatoon on July 21-23. The 2023 festival will be in Alberta and 2024 in BC. The festival will have 3 levels of competition: Junior, Intermediate and Senior and in most classes provinces will be able to send 2 or 3 competitors. A recorded Choral competition is also included.

NATIONAL FESTIVAL - 2023

Of the participants who perform at Festival, some are chosen by Adjudicators to represent Victoria as delegates at the National Festival Local Stream Qualifying Round. Performers who are successful may be chosen to proceed to the National Festival. The National Festival (Federation of Canadian Music Festivals) is independently run and is a separate association from the GVPAF.

July 13-19: Recorded, Composition, & Non-Competitive Education Streams

July 26-29: Developing Artist Stream

July 29-August 6: Emerging Artist Stream

Effective December 21, 2020, GVPAFA is now affiliated with the National Festival (FCMF) through a Local Stream Membership. Affiliation through this new Local Stream membership level provides GVPAFA registrants an opportunity to participate in a Local Stream Qualifying Round which allows for recommendation and advancement to the National Music Festival.
